Target Information

Bovine somatotropin, also known as growth hormone (GH), is a multifaceted regulator of growth, metabolism, and various physiological processes in cattle. It signals through the GH receptor-associated tyrosine kinase JAK2, initiating multiple signaling pathways and cellular responses. These include the activation of Stat transcription factors, which are implicated in the expression of genes such as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), as well as the grb2-SOS-Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK1,2 pathway, and the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase and Akt pathway. Bovine Somatotropin influences cell growth, protein synthesis, and has been associated with the regulation of lactation and milk yield. It also plays a role in cancer development and aging, highlighting its significance as a target in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry.
