Target Information
Bovine Transcription Factor SOX-2 (SOX2) is a critical transcription factor involved in embryonic development and stem cell maintenance. It belongs to the SOX family of proteins, characterized by an HMG box domain that binds DNA. SOX2 is essential for maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells and is a key regulator of genes involved in early embryogenesis. It forms complexes with other transcription factors, such as OCT4, to control gene expression. SOX2 is also implicated in the reprogramming of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and is associated with various developmental disorders when mutated.
