Target Information

Candida albicans is a fungus that normally lives on the skin and mucous membranes of humans and animals but can cause infections when its balance is disrupted or when it invades deeper tissues. Candida albicans can also form biofilms on medical devices, such as catheters, and cause serious complications. The diagnosis of Candida albicans infection can be challenging, as the symptoms and signs are often nonspecific and vary depending on the site and severity of the infection.
