Streptococcus agalactiae, commonly referred to as Group B Streptococcus (GBS), is primarily recognized for its impact on human health, particularly in maternal and neonatal care. However, GBS can also be found in animals and has been associated with various conditions in veterinary medicine. In animals, GBS can cause a variety of infections, including mastitis in dairy cattle, neonatal septicemia in livestock, and occasionally respiratory or urogenital infections in pets.
