Target Information

Borrelia burgdorferi DbpB, or decorin-binding protein B, is a lipoprotein that contributes to the bacterium's infectious process and immune evasion mechanisms. DbpB is expressed during the tick phase of B. burgdorferi's life cycle and is closely related to DbpA, with which it shares functional similarities. This protein is involved in the binding of decorin, an extracellular matrix protein, which is essential for the bacterium's attachment to the tick vector and its transmission to mammals. DbpB's interaction with decorin aids in the traversal of the tick's gut and facilitates the infection process.
