Target Information

The nipah virus fusion protein F1 chain, a product of the F gene, is a key component of the virus's glycoprotein complex and plays a central role in the fusion process with host cell membranes. This protein is derived from the precursor F0 protein through proteolytic cleavage, which is essential for its activation and subsequent function in the viral entry mechanism. The F1 chain, together with the G glycoprotein, forms the F glycoprotein complex that mediates the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane, allowing the viral genome to be delivered into the host cell. The F1 chain's structure is characterized by a central hydrophobic region that is believed to insert into the host cell membrane during the fusion process.
