Target Information

Canine Creatine Kinase S-Type Mitochondrial (CKMT2) is a key enzyme responsible for transferring high-energy phosphate from mitochondria to the cytosolic carrier, creatine. It belongs to the creatine kinase isoenzyme family and exists in two forms: sarcomeric MtCK and ubiquitous MtCK, encoded by separate genes. CKMT2 plays a crucial role in ATP synthesis and respiratory chain activity by increasing ADP availability to the mitochondrial complex V. In canine models, CKMT2 is highly conserved and shares 94% sequence homology with human CKMT2. It is essential for maintaining energy balance in tissues with high metabolic demands, such as muscle and brain.
