Target Information
Canine Tristetraprolin (TTP), also known as ZFP36 or G0S24, is a critical RNA-binding protein that plays a significant role in post-transcriptional regulation, particularly in the control of inflammation. TTP binds to AU-rich elements (AREs) in the 3'-untranslated regions (3'UTRs) of target mRNAs, promoting their degradation and thereby reducing the expression of inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α and IL-1β. This protein is regulated by phosphorylation, with protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) being able to dephosphorylate TTP, activating its mRNA-degrading function. TTP's expression and activity are often downregulated in various cancers, suggesting its role as a tumor suppressor. In dogs, TTP may serve as an anti-inflammatory factor and a potential therapeutic target for conditions involving excessive inflammation, such as rheumatoid arthritis, and may also play a role in cancer development and progression.
