Target Information

Porcine macrophages are critical components of the pig's immune system, playing a significant role in defense against pathogens, tissue repair, and homeostasis. They are primary targets for several viruses, including African swine fever virus and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, which can cause substantial economic losses in the swine industry. These macrophages exhibit functional diversity and plasticity, with different phenotypes such as M1 (pro-inflammatory) and M2 (anti-inflammatory) types, depending on the microenvironment and stimuli they encounter.
