Target Information

Porcine bone morphogenetic protein 5 (pBMP5) is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of bone and cartilage formation in pigs. BMP5 is involved in a variety of biological processes, including cell differentiation, proliferation, and the orchestration of tissue-specific gene expression patterns during development. This protein is particularly important for its role in osteogenesis, the process of bone formation, and chondrogenesis, the formation of cartilage. pBMP5 contributes to the commitment of mesenchymal stem cells towards the osteoblastic lineage, thereby influencing bone healing and regeneration.
