Target Information
Porcine Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes Protein 1A (SMC1A) is a key component of the cohesin complex, which is essential for maintaining sister chromatid cohesion during the cell cycle and for DNA repair. It forms a V-shaped heterodimer with SMC3, creating a ring structure that traps sister chromatids, ensuring proper chromosome segregation during mitosis. SMC1A is also involved in spindle pole assembly and interacts with BRCA1, playing a role in DNA repair via ATM/ATR signaling pathways.
