Target Information

Proteus spp. are gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria known for their ability to swim due to flagella. They are notorious for causing urinary tract infections and wound infections. Key targets for intervention include virulence factors such as flagellin, which is essential for motility and a potent inducer of inflammation, and the OmpK36 porin, which facilitates nutrient uptake and is implicated in the bacterial resistance to host immune defenses.
