Target Information

Nitroimidazoles are a category of organic compounds characterized by the presence of an imidazole ring with at least one nitro group attached. This term also applies to a class of antibiotics featuring nitroimidazole in their composition, typically including the 5-nitroimidazole positional isomer. These antibiotics serve as antibacterial and anticoccidial agents, mainly utilized to prevent and treat histomoniasis and coccidiosis in poultry and game birds. Additionally, they have been employed in treating genital trichomoniasis in cattle and hemorrhagic enteritis in pigs.
