Target Information

Aflatoxins are carcinogenic mycotoxins synthesized by Aspergillus fungi. Among these, Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most potent, having been extensively studied for its role in causing hepatocellular carcinoma in both humans and animals. High concentrations of AFB1 are often found in food supplies, especially in maize. Its production is most prolific in staple foods stored under hot, humid conditions.
