Target Information

Avermectins target the glutamate-gated chloride channels located in the nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates, leading to hyperpolarization, paralysis, and ultimately, death. Abamectin serves as an antihelmintic in veterinary applications. However, when administered in very high doses, it can impact mammals, inducing nervous system depression symptoms like incoordination, tremors, lethargy, excitation, and pupil dilation.
