Target Information

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic drug commonly prescribed for managing high blood pressure and edema caused by fluid retention. As a thiazide diuretic, it works by preventing the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to increased sodium excretion. Studies have demonstrated that hydrochlorothiazide administration reduces urinary calcium excretion in dogs with a history of forming calcium oxalate bladder stones.
