Target Information

Erythromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, is employed to treat various bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, skin infections, chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease, and syphilis. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in certain bacteria, thereby preventing their replication. Erythromycin is effective against gram-negative bacteria and mycoplasma. Additionally, it enhances smooth muscle contraction, which can boost gastrointestinal motility.
