Target Information
Chicken insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is a key hormone involved in muscle development and metabolism. It is a 70-amino acid peptide with structural similarity to insulin and acts primarily through the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) to promote cell growth, differentiation, and survival. IGF-1 is synthesized mainly in the liver but is also produced locally in tissues, where it functions in an autocrine and paracrine manner. In chickens, IGF-1 plays a crucial role in skeletal muscle development, stimulating myoblast proliferation and muscle fiber formation via the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
