Target Information
Porcine E-selectin is a crucial cell adhesion molecule that plays a significant role in mediating the initial adhesive interactions between leukocytes and endothelial cells during inflammation. It is a member of the selectin family and is expressed on the surface of endothelial cells in response to inflammatory stimuli such as interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). This protein is involved in the recruitment of leukocytes to sites of inflammation, particularly in the rolling phase of leukocyte extravasation. Additionally, porcine E-selectin has been implicated in xenograft rejection, as it can mediate adhesive interactions between porcine endothelial cells and human leukocytes.
