Target Information

Swine cystatin-A1 is a member of the cystatin superfamily, which includes proteins that inhibit cysteine proteases. It plays a role in epidermal development and maintenance, and is one of the precursor proteins of the cornified cell envelope in keratinocytes. Cystatin-A1 has been proposed as a prognostic and diagnostic tool for cancer due to its involvement in various disease states, including several types of carcinoma.
