Anisakis is a genus of parasitic nematodes that undergo life cycles involving fish and marine mammals. These parasites can infect humans, causing anisakiasis. Individuals who produce immunoglobulin E in response to Anisakis may experience allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, after consuming fish infected with these species.
