Target Information

Metschnikowia pulcherrima, also known as Candida pulcherrima, is a widespread yeast species with various strains, belonging to the Metschnikowiaceae family. It is commonly found on grapes, cherries, flowers, spoiled fruit, and is often transported by fruit flies. While primarily an environmental saprophytic yeast, C. pulcherrima can also act as an opportunistic pathogen, having been isolated from skin lesions and nails. Its morphology and physiology are closely related to those of C. lusitaniae.
