Target Information

Chlamydia psittaci is a deadly intracellular bacterium that can lead to widespread avian chlamydiosis, outbreaks in various mammals, and respiratory psittacosis in humans. Its potential hosts encompass wild birds, domesticated poultry, and livestock such as cattle, pigs, sheep, and horses. In birds, Chlamydia psittaci infections are frequently systemic and can vary in presentation from unapparent to severe, acute, or chronic, with periods of intermittent shedding.
