Target Information

Chicken Bu-1b is a unique member of the C-type lectin family of proteins, which are known for their ability to recognize and bind to carbohydrate structures on the surface of various pathogens. This receptor is predominantly expressed on the surface of B cells in chickens, where it plays a crucial role in the immune response by mediating pathogen recognition and clearance. The Bu-1b receptor is involved in the innate immune system and can initiate a rapid response to invading microorganisms. It is particularly noted for its ability to bind to the cell wall components of bacteria, such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and peptidoglycans, which can lead to the activation of B cells and the production of antibodies.
