Target Information

Porcine sirtuin 2 (pSIRT2) is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, which are known for their NAD+-dependent deacetylase activity. This particular enzyme is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and, to a lesser extent, in the mitochondria of cells. pSIRT2 plays a significant role in various cellular processes, including the regulation of cell cycle progression, metabolic homeostasis, and the response to stress. One of the key functions of pSIRT2 is the deacetylation of alpha-tubulin, an essential component of microtubules, which are crucial for maintaining cell structure and facilitating intracellular transport. By modulating the stability and dynamics of microtubules, pSIRT2 influences cell division and the overall cytoskeletal organization.
