Target Information
Complement component 7 (C7) is a protein involved in the complement system of the innate immune system. C7 is part of the membrane attack complex (MAC), which creates a hole on pathogen surfaces, leading to cell lysis and death. Its primary task is to bind the C5bC6 complex together. Complement Component C7 is encoded by the C7 gene in pigs. C7 plays an integral role in the assembly of the terminal complement complex with target cell membranes. Porcine and human C7 are highly conserved and share structural and functional features.
