Target Information

Porcine interferon gamma (IFN-γ) is a cytokine produced by activated T cells and natural killer (NK) cells in pigs, with broad-spectrum antiviral activity and immunomodulatory functions. It plays a crucial role in immune regulation by activating the body's innate immunity against viral attacks. IFN-γ does not directly kill viruses but instead binds to cell surface receptors, inducing the production of antiviral proteins such as ADAR, PKR, Mx, OAS, and RNaseL, which inhibit viral replication and translation. This cytokine is also involved in the regulation of other cytokines and acts synergistically with them, activating through the binding of IFN-γ receptor I and II, and the JAK-STAT pathway.
