Target Information
Caspase-1 in swine is a critical cysteine protease involved in the activation of inflammatory cytokines, particularly the maturation of IL-1β and IL-18. It plays a central role in the inflammasome complex, which is pivotal for processing and promoting the secretion of IL-1β, a key mediator of inflammation. Caspase-1 is activated in response to various stimuli, including pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), leading to pyroptosis, a form of programmed cell death.
