Target Information

Sporotrichosis is a sporadic, chronic granulomatous disease affecting humans and various domestic and laboratory animals, caused by Sporothrix species. Sporothrix schenckii can also infect cats, though less frequently. S. schenckii appears to be ecologically intermediate, and genetic recombination among different genotypes may have played a role in developing diversity within the pathogenic clade.
