Target Information
Infectious bursal disease (IBD) virus, classified under the genus Avibirnavirus within the family Birnaviridae, primarily affects chickens, turkeys, ducks, guinea fowl, and ostriches. However, it only manifests clinically in young chickens. The virus spreads through the oro-fecal route, with infected birds shedding high quantities of the virus for about two weeks post-infection. The disease can rapidly transmit from infected to healthy chickens via contaminated food, water, and direct contact.
