In cats, feline herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1) primarily targets the upper respiratory tract and eye structures. Transmission occurs between felines through direct contact with infected oral, nasal, or eye secretions. This virus is highly contagious among cat populations, spreading swiftly through direct contact with infected secretions or contaminated items.
