Swine vesicular disease (SVD) is a highly contagious viral infection in swine caused by the swine vesicular disease virus, an Enterovirus. It is marked by symptoms such as fever and vesicles that develop into ulcers on the mouth, snout, feet, and teats. The virus is relatively heat-resistant and can survive for extended periods in salted, dried, and smoked meat products.
