Target Information

Cryptosporidium ranks as the second leading cause of diarrhea and mortality in children worldwide, following rotavirus. Symptoms of cryptosporidiosis include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite, and cramps. Cryptosporidium species have been found in fish across various geographical regions. Currently, three species are genetically identified as specific to piscine hosts: C. molnari, C. scophthalmi, and C. huwi.
