Target Information
Porcine angiotensin II receptor type 1 (pAT1R), also known as the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that plays a pivotal role in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). This receptor is activated by the octapeptide hormone angiotensin II, which is a key regulator of blood pressure and fluid balance in the body. pAT1R is predominantly expressed in the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and adrenal glands, where it mediates the vasoconstrictive, aldosterone-secreting, and proliferative effects of angiotensin II. Activation of this receptor leads to the contraction of smooth muscle cells, increasing blood pressure, and promoting the release of aldosterone, which in turn regulates sodium and water balance.
