Target Information
Porcine integrin alpha 3 (ITGA3), also known as CD49c or very late antigen-3 (VLA-3), is a significant subunit of the integrin family, which are heterodimeric transmembrane receptors composed of alpha and beta subunits. ITGA3 pairs with beta 1 (β1) to form the α3β1 integrin, playing a pivotal role in cell adhesion, migration, and signaling, particularly in the context of the extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins such as laminin and collagen. This integrin has been implicated in various biological processes, including inflammation and angiogenesis, which are critical in wound healing, immune responses, and tumor progression. The role of ITGA3 in inflammation is highlighted by its involvement in the recruitment of immune cells to the site of inflammation and its contribution to the activation of signaling pathways that lead to the release of inflammatory mediators.
