Target Information
Porcine purine-rich element binding protein A (Purα) is a multifunctional, single-stranded DNA and RNA binding protein that is highly conserved throughout evolution. This protein plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including transcriptional regulation, DNA replication, and RNA metabolism. In pigs, Purα is involved in the modulation of gene expression by binding to specific DNA or RNA sequences, either directly or indirectly. It can form multimeric complexes and interact with other transcription factors, thereby activating or inhibiting the transcription of target genes. The protein's structure includes DNA binding domains, a glycine-rich N-terminal domain, and a glutamine- and aspartate-rich C-terminal domain, which are essential for its diverse functions.
