Target Information

Porcine trefoil factor 2 (TFF2), also known as spasmolytic polypeptide, is a member of the trefoil factor family, which plays a significant role in mucosal protection and repair. TFF2 is primarily expressed in the gastric mucosa, where it is co-secreted with mucins, particularly MUC6. This interaction is crucial for stabilizing the gastric mucus barrier, enhancing its protective properties against gastric acid and pathogens. TFF2 exhibits lectin-like properties, allowing it to bind to specific glycan structures on mucins, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the gastric lining.
