Target Information

The severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome SFTS is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus. It is transmitted to humans primarily through the bites of infected ticks, particularly from the genus Haemaphysalis.The disease is characterized by a severe fever, thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), leukopenia (low white blood cell count), and elevated levels of liver enzymes. Symptoms can progress rapidly to include hemorrhagic manifestations and multi-organ failure.
