Target Information

Chlamydia trachomatis and Chlamydia psittaci are both species of Chlamydiae, a phylum of Gram-negative bacteria known for their unique developmental life cycle and obligate intracellular parasitism. C. trachomatis is the leading cause of bacterial sexually transmitted infections worldwide and is also responsible for trachoma, a blinding eye infection. C. psittaci causes psittacosis, a zoonotic disease primarily transmitted by birds, leading to respiratory and systemic infections in humans.
