Mycobacterium tuberculosis Acr1, also known as alkyl hydroperoxide reductase C (AhpC), is a key enzyme involved in the antioxidant defense mechanism of M. tuberculosis. Acr1 is a peroxiredoxin that plays a crucial role in the detoxification of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and alkyl hydroperoxides, which are generated during the host's immune response to M. tuberculosis infection.
