Target Information
Taura syndrome is a severe viral disease impacting several shrimp species, including the giant tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon), northern white shrimp (Penaeus setiferus), blue shrimp (Penaeus stylirostris), and whiteleg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). The Taura syndrome virus (TSV) has a genome composed of linear, positive-sense single-stranded RNA. The primary transmission method of TSV is likely through the cannibalistic consumption of deceased, infected shrimp.
