Target Information

Bovine Neutrophil Elastase (NE) is a serine protease encoded by the ELANE gene and belongs to the chymotrypsin family. It is a key enzyme in neutrophils, with potent proteolytic activity that degrades foreign microorganisms and extracellular matrix proteins like elastin and collagen. NE plays a crucial role in host defense, immune response, and inflammation regulation. It is also involved in neutrophil migration and tissue repair. Defects in NE are associated with neutrophil disorders such as cyclic neutropenia.
