Target Information
Brucella suis is a bacterium belonging to the genus Brucella. It is one of several species within the Brucella genus known to cause brucellosis, a zoonotic disease that primarily affects animals but can be transmitted to humans. Brucella suis specifically has a predilection for swine (pigs), where it can cause chronic infections. In pigs, Brucella suis infection can lead to reproductive disorders such as abortion, stillbirths, and infertility. It may also cause lameness and other joint-related issues.
