Target Information
Porcine muscleblind-like (MBNL) proteins are a family of RNA-binding proteins that play essential roles in the regulation of alternative splicing and the control of gene expression in pigs. MBNL proteins are particularly important in the context of muscle development and maintenance, as their name suggests, but they also have broader implications for overall cellular function due to their influence on RNA processing. These proteins are known to bind to specific RNA sequences, modulating the splicing of pre-mRNA and thereby affecting the production of mature mRNA molecules. This, in turn, influences the translation of proteins and contributes to the diversity of the proteome. MBNL proteins are implicated in a variety of biological processes, including muscle differentiation, neuronal function, and the response to stress.
