Target Information

Psittacine beak and feather disease virus (PBFDV) is a highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects parrots, including psittacine birds such as parakeets, cockatoos, and macaws. It belongs to the Circoviridae family and the genus Circovirus. PBFDV spread occurs through contact with contaminated feathers, dander, and other bodily secretions. Infected chicks may experience growth retardation and may fail to develop normal feathers and beaks.
