Target Information
Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is a bullet-shaped, negative-sense RNA virus belonging to the family Rhabdoviridae. Inside infected host cells, the N protein encapsidates the viral RNA, forming the ribonucleoprotein complex. This complex serves as a template for both genome replication and transcription of viral mRNAs. Additionally, the N protein is involved in assembling and budding new virus particles. The VSV nucleoprotein is a significant target for diagnostic assays.
