Target Information

Patulin is an organic compound categorized as a polyketide and is recognized as a mycotoxin produced by various molds, particularly from the genera Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Byssochlamys. It is primarily found in decaying apples, and the level of patulin in apple products is often considered an indicator of the quality of apples utilized in production. Exposure to this mycotoxin is linked to effects on immune, neurological, and gastrointestinal health.
