Target Information

Borrelia burgdorferi surface lipoprotein P27, also known as BBK32 or OspE/F-related protein, is an immunogenic lipoprotein that contributes to the bacterium's ability to survive in its tick vector and mammalian hosts. P27 is expressed during the bacterium's transmission from the tick to the mammal, suggesting its involvement in the early stages of infection. As a surface-exposed protein, P27 is thought to play a role in the bacterium's adherence to host cells and may also be involved in immune evasion.
