Striped jack nervous necrosis virus (SJNNV) is the type species within the genus Betanodavirus, known for infecting fish. It possesses a bipartite genome consisting of two positive-strand RNAs, labeled as RNAs 1 and 2. SJNNV is responsible for causing viral nervous necrosis (VNN) in the larvae of striped jack (Pseudocaranx dentex), posing significant challenges to the aquaculture industry.
