Target Information
Envelope glycoprotein E2 is a structural protein located on the surface of the BVDV virion. E2 is primarily responsible for the attachment of the virus to host cells. E2 is a major antigenic determinant of BVDV and is a target for the host immune response. Antibodies against E2 can be detected in infected animals, aiding in the diagnosis of the disease.
